Zonta Club of Trenton/Mercer
The Zonta Club of Trenton/Mercer and the Mercer county Commission on the Status of Women hosted its annual drawing/essay contest to celebrate the United Nations International Day of the Family. Artwork or essays from children representing Mercer County schools were selected from the children’s interpretation of “What Family Means To Me.” On May 14, 2009 the two organizations hosted a light dinner and award celebration for all of the selected children and their families at the Lawrence Township Library, where the winning entries were displayed. Each child, whose entry was selected, received a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble along with a certificate of recognition. This year’s contest winners include Kathryn Gorski and Kalina Ginocchio, both in grade 1 from Eldridge Park School, Margie Nieves, Kayla Valenin, and Jasmine DeLeon of grade 2 along with Ariel Rivera, Cindy Lopez, and Hailey Suozzo of grade 3 at Franklin Elementary School. Anthony Raspetello and Yana Kitayeva of Grice Middle School were the 2009 middle school contest winners.
